I’m talking sugar free cake that is as good as ‘real cake’. Seriously!  In fact, they are so good that my friends, family and workmates (aka the sugar quitting sceptics in my life) loved them too.

Whether you have quit sugar, or just looking for a healthier option for your friends and family, these are the sugar free cakes that will please even the toughest crowd.

Berry Swirl Cheesecake

Public Service Announcement: If you are looking for a healthy cheesecake made with REAL CHEESE, this one is the bomb diggity. It tastes like real cheesecake, because it is real cheesecake. And you know what that means? It is honest to goodness creamy crazy delicious. Plus, those raspberry swirls…sahhh pretty. Give this cheesecake a ‘swirl’, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Get the recipe here.

You Totally Got This Tip:

The recipe tells you to make the berry swirls after spooning half of the cheesecake mixture onto the base. But if you do that, you won’t see the beautiful berry swirls on top of your cheesecake. The solution? Reserve half the raspberry sauce to make swirls on top as well. Easy!

Flourless Berry Chocolate Cake

This flourless berry chocolate cake is AAAAMAGING…bible (in case you’re wondering, that’s Kardasian slang for promise. Yes, I watch it, #sorrynotsorry). If you are looking for a sweet treat that is seriously chocolately, totally fudgey, and pretty much as YUM as a sugar free cake can get, this is the one. Don’t believe me? There is a whole block of dark chocolate in this cake. I rest my cake case. Oh, and if you need any more convincing, this super delish chocolate cake only takes ½ hour to make. How could you resist?

 Totally Messed with Christmas Cake

Do yourself a favour and ignore the fact that this is a Christmas cake. Take it from me, you don’t want to wait until next Christmas to taste this much YUM.  The good news? This cake was originally from Sarah Wilson’s awesome cookbook Simplicious, so you won’t find any super sugary dried fruit in this cake. Instead it’s chock full of delicious spices, dark chocolate and a super nutritious veg, that is so well hidden, no one will ever know. By the way that’s not trick photography. This cake is MASSIVE. Yep, it is as big in size as it is in flavour. If you are looking for a cake that will impress your friends, get your bake on guys, because this is it.

Grab the recipe here.

You Totally Got This Tip:

Making the totally messed with Christmas Cake during the year? Replace the blanched almond topping them with something less festive. You could try these frostings from the I Quit Sugar website. But my personal favourite is my own creation… popcorn with sugar free caramel sauce. It’s super easy topping to make. Air pop ¼ cup of popcorn and stack on top of your cake. To make the caramel sauce just pop 3 tablespoons of almond butter, ½ cup rice malt syrup and teaspoon of vanilla powder or essence in a small saucepan and stir until melted and bubbling then simply pour the caramel sauce over the popcorn topped cake. You can see my version of the cake here. Cool, huh?

Whole Orange and Poppy Seed Cake

Yes, there is a sugar free God. How do I know? Because, this orange and poppy seed cake is a gift from the sugar free heavens. This cake is by IQS friend Alice Nicholls. It’s made with a whole orange, that is boiled then blitzed, it tastes exactly like orange and poppy seed cake should, absolutely freaking delicious! You seriously won’t believe it’s sugar free, my workmates didn’t. Yep, it’s that good.

The recipe is up on the I Quit Sugar website, get it here.

 You Totally Got This Tip:

If you can tolerate dairy, ditch the dairy free coconut orange icing in this recipe. It can be difficult to get the right consistency, and ain’t nobody got time for that. Replace it with a simple cream cheese frosting. Just blitz 125g cream cheese, with 1 tablespoon of orange rind and 1 tablespoon of rice malt syrup (or maple syrup/ honey) for a simple and delicious frosting. You will be licking the bowl, guaranteed.

Note

The I Quit Sugar program is no longer running (you can read more about that here). But, crisis averted. All the I Quit Sugar recipes have a new home at 28 by Sam Wood. The I Quit Sugar program focused on giving up a particular component of sugar – fructose. That’s why they used fructose free sweeteners, like rice malt syrup, in their sugar free cake recipes.  Rice malt syrup is made from fermented cooked rice and is a blend of complex carbohydrates, glucose and maltose. You can find it in the health food aisle of your supermarket.
